A Little About Me
Adjunct Lecturer, Department of CSE, Brac University
I’m a young enthusiastic researcher from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I completed my Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with excellent academic records. Currently, I am serving as a Lecturer in Dept. of CSE, Brac University. I have 9+ months experience in academic job. I have a great fascination towards a broad range of professional research. In addition to this, I have completed some major academic projects as a team leader during my undergrad study. You can learn more about below.
Teaching Experience
February 07, 2022 - Present
Adjunct Faculty (Lecturer), Department of CSE
BRAC University
I am conducting courses on Electrical Circuits (both theory and lab), and Electronic Circuits lab.
January 20, 2022 - February 06, 2022
Lecturer, Department of EEE
Bangladesh University of Business and Technology
During the short service period here, I conducted courses on Electrical Circuits Technology (both theory and lab) and Electronic Circuits I Theory. As a member of the departmental promotional committee, I actively designed and promoted departmental activities on social media platform.
June 07, 2021 - January 19, 2022
Lecturer, Department of EEE
Z. H. Sikder University of Science and Technology
In this first academic job, I proved myself as a diligent teacher who not only deliver lectures but also constantly guide the students towards better learning. I conducted courses on- Digital Signal Processing, Mobile Cellular Communication, Communication Engineering, and Basic Electrical Technology. I supervised one project and co-supervised one thesis. I successfully guided my supervisees to achieve best thesis award in EEE department. I also served as a departmental exam moderator. I conducted two workshops on- CV writing and higher studies opportunity that proved to be very fruitful for my students. I guided my students to an industry visit at BTCL Office, Shariatpur.

Undergraduate Thesis
A. Abdullah and K. Hasan, “Deep Learning Based Motion Artifact Modeling Technique to Estimate Heart Rate from Intense Motion Artifact Corrupted PPG Signals,” (Manuscript ready for IEEE TBME)
Photoplethysmogram (PPG) signal can be a good choice for continuous heart rate monitoring which an important task for healthcare application. Unfortunately, PPG based heart rate measurement is highly vulnerable to various noises; primarily motion artifacts (MA). In this work, a novel end-to-end deep learning network is proposed to model MA from accelerometer signals and then estimate heart rate from denoised PPG signals. Three novel loss functions optimize the model. Additionally, data augmentation is applied in train network and two extra post-processing are added in test network which boost the model performance. The proposed model is evaluated on IEEE Signal Processing Cup (SPC) 2015 dataset.
IEEE VIP Cup 2020
Real-time vehicle detection and tracking at junction using a fisheye camera
The challenge was to detect and track vehicles at a junction from fisheye camera images. YOLOv4 was used as core network architecture. Additionally, a multi-level filtering based-preprocessor block was added in front to enhance the image quality. Furthermore, a Non-Vehicle Suppressor (NVS) block was added as a post-processor to increase the performance of vehicle detector.
This task was performed within the given deadline and my team was ranked 6th in the competition.
IEEE SP Cup 2019
S. Ahmed, A. Abdullah, and SA Fattah, “A Multi-Task Deep Learning Framework for UAV-Embedded Sound Source Localization with a Speech Enhancer Plug-in,” (Manuscript ready for IEEE Sensors)
Sound source localization has received a lot of attention in recent years due it's remote sensing capabilities in optically occluded situations. Such capabilities can nicely complement vision to help localize a person or an interesting event in the environment. However, the problem gets complicated by severe drone ego-noise that may result in negative signal-to-noise ratios in the recorded microphone signals. In this work, we present a robust sound source localization framework, which is capable of estimating the direction of arrival of a sound source with high accuracy amid strong drone ego-noise with negative signal-to-noise-ratios (SNR) based on multi-channel audio data. To prove the generalizability of our framework, we report results on two different data sets, IEEE SP CUP 2019 and AVQ. The data sets differ in both environmental setting and experimental data collection method, but offer the same challenge-sound source localization amid severe ego-noise.
